Abstract

Abstract. This community service activity aimed to address the lack of adequate street lighting in Kembangkuning Village, Jatiluhur District, Purwakarta Regency, through the design, installation, and handover of a Solar-Powered Public Street Lighting (PJUTS) system. The PJUTS system utilizes renewable energy from solar radiation to generate and store electrical energy, enabling reliable nighttime illumination without dependence on the national electricity grid (PLN). The community service team from the Electrical Technology Study Program, Politeknik Enjinering Indorama, involved both lecturers and students in the planning, assembly, installation, and community education processes. The main components of the system included a 150 Wp solar panel, a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controller, a 100 Ah lithium battery, a 50 W LED street lamp, and an automatic timer. The activity was conducted on June 13, 2025, with the participation of village government officials, university management, and local residents. As a result, the PJUTS system was successfully installed at a strategic location identified as accident-prone, accompanied by a public awareness session on basic system operation and maintenance. The project was officially handed over through a symbolic ceremony followed by the signing of a handover document. This initiative not only contributed to the development of clean energy-based public infrastructure but also strengthened the collaborative relationship between the higher education institution and the local community through practical and sustainable engagement.
